Grips Good Eats

Grips Good Eats is a family owned restaurant that has been popping up all over my timeline with nothing but good reviews. I had to get there! They are located in Atlanta, right on Metropolitan Parkway. They open at noon, and I suggest you get there a little early. I arrived ten minutes after the opened and and there was already a line forming.

Owner Jeff welcoming us to Grips

Grips is not a fast food restaurant. Everything is made fresh to order, so you will most likely experience a wait for your food. But I promise you, between the excellent customer service and the love you can taste being poured into each meal, you will not mind the wait at all!

Their menu offers breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Everything looked delicious. I had to scan the menu a couple of times before I could make up my mind. It was a hard toss up between the seafood platter and the shrimp and grits, but ultimately the shrimp and grits won the battle.

I enjoyed the grits – they were creamy, buttery and cheesy. The cheese being cooked into the grits instead of sprinkled on top took them to another level.

But those shrimp?! The star of the show! You know when you get seafood and it still has that fishy taste? NOT happening at Grips! Those big juicy shrimps were cleaned well and fried to golden-brown perfection! They didn’t last long and I wasn’t trying to share them.

And lastly — well this actually should have been put first — the banana pudding. I say first because we ended up eating it in the car while we waited for our meals.

Tay chose honey lemon pepper ranch wings and fries. Let me just say, these wings were some of the best I’ve ever had! It tasted like they were marinated in the sauce before being fried, or maybe the sauce was cooked into the chicken instead of the chicken simply being tossed in the sauce. Either way, that kinda of extra effort goes a long way taste wise!

You can always taste the difference between store bought and homemade banana pudding. Ain’t nothing like the real thing baby. And let me tell you, Grips is whipping up the real thing! You can just feel the love in each bite — it’s like being wrapped in one of big mama’s hugs.

And for my foodies out there that don’t like bananas in their banana pudding, Grips Good Eats has got you! Although it doesn’t contain any bananas, it has plenty of vanilla wafers throughout the pudding.

One thing about ya girl, I will travel and wait for some good food…And baaabbyyyy, Grips Good Eats was well worth the wait! I will most definitely be going back.

Remember, try to get there early as they do not accept call-ins. And don’t forget to tell em Court sent you!
